About Us
My name is LaWanda Akaya. My journey began with getting my vehicle inspected back in 2007. As I sat in my car, and chatted with the Young Man, he stated how the I / M program has changed the quality of air in the surrounding Atlanta area. I thought to myself, I would like to be a part of this, thinking of it as a way of helping my family and friends that suffer with Asthma and Respiratory ailment. I began to do my research on how me and my Husband could open a station. Upon researching and on October 1, 2009 Akaya Emissions LLC opened. Over the years we have met countless neighbors who have become part of our family. As the owner, witnessing the positive impact of the emissions testing station on both local air quality and public awareness is not only professionally rewarding but also aligned with a broader sense of environmental responsibility.
This journey emphasized the importance of staying proactive in the face of industry changes, fostering community engagement, and championing sustainable practices for the benefit of the present and future generations. I can truly say, establishing this station was driven by a desire to contribute to air quality improvement.
